Unit Converter

Select a category and convert between common units. Every factor is exact — round-trip values return the input.

1 m = 3.28084 ft

How to use the unit converter

The converter handles the unit categories most people actually need: length, weight, volume, temperature, area, speed, and time. Pick a category first, then the two units, then the amount — the math runs instantly. Every conversion uses the exact factor (not a rounded decimal), so round-trips return the input.

  1. Pick a category from the tabs. The unit dropdowns reload to match the category you chose.
  2. Type the amount in the From field. Decimals and commas both work.
  3. Select the source unit (From) and the target unit (To). Use the swap button between them to flip the direction.
  4. Read the converted value on the right. It updates on every keystroke.

Temperature is different

Most units convert with a single multiplier — 1 km = 1000 m, always. Temperature doesn't, because Celsius and Fahrenheit use different zero points. 0°C = 32°F, not 0°F. The converter handles the offset correctly: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32, and Kelvin = °C + 273.15. Use the tool rather than trying to guesstimate a C↔F conversion in your head for anything beyond "roughly room temperature."

Common mix-ups

US and UK fluid ounces differ (≈29.57 mL vs. ≈28.41 mL). US and UK gallons differ more sharply — a UK gallon is about 20% bigger. Troy ounces (precious metals) are heavier than standard ounces. If a conversion looks off by a few percent, double-check which variant of the unit you selected.
